Ok, since we've been here, with the quiet and the sleepiness of this lovely city, we do things like have dinner parties. Sounds silly right? It's really not though. And in keeping with the dinner party theme I'm back to baking. Cakes, cookies (which I took to the doctor when he removed my stitches a couple of weeks ago), fruit pie things. One of the nice benefits of the housing here is the American stove/oven with fahrenheit settings on it (makes me feel so spoiled). So for the party last night I made a carrot cake from the cook book Recipes from America's Small Farms. Yum. I left out the raisins and used raw almonds instead of walnuts. But the absolute best part was the cream cheese frosting recipe, that worked out because I actually found creme cheese here! I want to eat that frosting 3 meals/day for the next 2 years. Sigh. Oh, and that cook book is awesome.
