When I finally did get back from the east coast Friday (flight was canceled Thursday), the refrigerator smelled like the rotten death of old produce. While we finally figured out that the smell was coming from an old bottle of fish sauce (eww), we also found ourselves with bananas and strawberries nearly past their prime. So yesterday and today were dedicated to both cleaning and finding productive uses for my potentially sketchy produce. Banana bread is a no-brainer. But the scone recipe for strawberry shortcake was a bit of a question mark. Thankfully, they came out beautiful! I think I should make scones more often.

Next time, maybe smoothies? Warmer days are turning my cooking away from baking and onto more summery options.
