Masonic references?

This is creepy.  The article doesn't say the guy is (was) a Mormon...but I'm guessing Mormon. 

"We have no job and five children under eight years old with no place to go. So here we are," the fax continued.

"Oh lord, my God, is there no hope for a widow's son?" it concluded.

I don't think this guy was a Mormon. He had two sets of multiples!

It's the closing quote that makes me speculate. It is, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, a distress call of the Free Masons and is believed to be the last thing Joseph Smith, Jr. said before dying. Although the number of kids does add to the case.
