Here are a few of the best status updates I've seen this week. They are listed in the order that I read them, the names have been changed to protect the guilty and all grammatical errors were kept intact.

1. Meg is hoping she did not kill her bread yeast, and is subsequently offering sacrifices to the Bread Gods, including but not limited to excess flour on her kitchen.
2. Dale is about to know what the bottom half is like.
3. Angie never heard of the Jonas Brothers until today.  Ignorance was bliss. 
4. Sam ate 10-day-old chicken and now has food poisoning.
5. Rob is avoiding his cat.  Things have been tense between them. 
6. Matt has numerological tendencies, and won't set microwaves or alarms to round numbers.
7. Abby feels like she's in the middle of an Amy Winehouse song.

In other Facebook news, a woman who went to highschool with me posted 3 somewhat unfortunate photos of me today.  Facebook can be very very bad.

Amy Ray week-day 4 Three County Highway

About half the songs on an Indigo Girls album are written by Amy Ray, half by Emily Saliers.  This one was written by Amy Ray.  From Three County Highway:

This is creepy.  The article doesn't say the guy is (was) a Mormon...but I'm guessing Mormon.

Amy Ray week-day 3 stand and deliver

We saw her perform this with Brandi Carlile at an Indigo Girls show in Yountville, CA (really swanky town for such a redneck name, there was a jaguar parked next to us with the vanity plate "IG Fan", creepy).  I think it was the only Amy-Ray-solo song of the evening.

Inauguration commentary

I haven't said anything about the inauguration because, to be frank, I was disappointed.  I wasn't disappointed about the music (the quartet, not Aretha although she did great all things considered), even if it wasn't truly live.  I was disappointed about:

1. The swearing in.  Seriously, as chief justice, that guy has basically ONE major public appearance every four years.  Get it together.  Or maybe the Associate Chief Justice should do the honors?  He seems to have the unique ability of effectively reading what's written on the page in front of him.

2. The inaugural address.  I'm an Obama supporter, I voted for him.  I think he's the right guy at the right time.  During the campaign he seemed like a marathon runner, he just kept plugging away, he kept his head down.  He didn't go off message, he kept his cool.  His inaugural address, though, was full of aggressive messaging that granted, sounded better from him than it did from GW.  I guess I was expecting something different, more inclusive, less "shining city on a hill"?   

So, here we are, politics as usual.

Amy Ray week-day 1 Laramie

Next Saturday K and I are going to Slim's in San Francisco to see Amy Ray solo (we've never seen Amy Ray solo before and are really looking forward to the show).  In an interview, she and Emily Saliers were asked something along the lines of what is the one thing you want to accomplish?  Emily responded (all of this is paraphrased, we no longer have the DVD for accuracy) that she wanted to be happy more than anything.    Amy's response was that she wanted to be a good song writer, she didn't care about being happy.  I think that's kind of hardcore.  From Laramie:
